Will You Do Me A Favor?.. No...

Hawaii!!
(Funny Story Below)

I had the opportunity to spend the past week in Hawaii with my wonderful family!

 Sunset from our hotel

It was absolutely GORGEOUS!
So many things happened that made this trip unforgettable...

One of the many stories from Hawaii:

We decided to spend one day relaxing by the pool and working on our tans.
I found two lounge chairs in the perfect spot (or at least I thought) for my sister and I to lay on.
There was someones stuff on the chair and table next to me but I didn't think anything of it.

As I'm waiting for Heather (my sister) to arrive I was basking in the sun half asleep when a elderly man (This man was very tan and had leathery skin that indicated he spent a lot of time out in the sun.) came up to me.
He asked me if I need any of his tanning oil and I kindly told him no.
He noticed that I had my spray sunscreen sitting right next to me on the table and asked me, "Is it cold to spray it on?"
I inform him, "No, I usually spray it in my hands then rub it on".
The man nodded and the conversation ended.

Finally Heather shows up... and we lay in the sun for about 10 minutes until I decide I probably should put some sunscreen on before I get burnt.
I have heather help me spray it on my back and rub it in to eliminate the weird sunscreen marks.
I helped her too and then decided to lay both our chairs flat.

As I am doing this the old man says, "Hey can you do me a favor?"
I say, "Sure! Whats that?"
I'm thinking he wants me to lay his chair back as well, which would be no problem...
He asks with his tanning oil in hand, "Will you help rub this on my back?"

I was in SHOCK! I couldn't believe what I had just heard!
I stood there for a split second and then said the first thing that came to mind.
"Sorry, I don't feel comfortable doing that."
As I am saying that Heather is saying, "Yeah, yeah she'll help you."
(I couldn't believe my sister was volunteering me to do that!)

The man goes on to say, "I understand I am here celebrating my 50th wedding anniversary and my wife is allergic to the sun". (Uh.. did he just say 50th wedding anniversary?!?)

I said, "congratulations..." and plugged my iPod in.
I couldn't believe this had just happened... This man had to have been at least 75 if not older.
He asked at least two other people that day to help him put his tanning oil on.

One of the most awkward experiences I've had in a lot time. At the time this happened I was not laughing. Now looking back I think its quite funny.

Note-to-self: Before plopping your things on a lounge chair you might want to make sure you are sitting next to people you know. This way you avoid having strangers ask you to rub tanning oil on their back.

AMAZING story...

A week or so ago I received a letter from one of my best friends who is serving a mission in Germany.
He shared an awesome missionary experience that impacted my life...

He wrote,
"So we were out dooring and we were going through some apartment buildings and we knocked on this guys door and no one answered. So we rang again and no one answered, But both my companion and I felt as if we need to wait and ring again.
And even though our impression made no real sense at all we still chose to honor it and so we waited a couple minutes and then rang again. Well then we heard a noise from behind the door and his man answered and asked who we were. We said "We are missionaries of thy Church of Jesus Christ and we have a special message about hope that we would like to share."
Well this guy with tears streaming down his face, lets us in and tells us that moments before he was about to kill himself, and before he did he prayed asking god to show him if he really was there and if he didn't get an answer that we would jump off the balcony which was 50 or so feet high.
And right after we knocked and he just took it as coincidence. But then we knocked again and again, until he came and then heard we were from Jesus Christ with a message of hope.
This was just a small little proof to me that god loves his children so so much, and that through others god can comfort and show others that he is there and that he does actually love us and care for us very dearly."
This story strengthened my testimony that Heaven Father is there. He hears and answers all of our prayers. He knows each and every one us individually. I love this story so much! I hope it touches your life as it touched mine.

The Race...

The Race

Quit! Give up, you're beaten, they shout at me and plead.
There's just too much against you no, this time you can't succeed.
And as I start to hang my head in front of failure's face,
My downward fall is broken by the memory of a race.
And hope refills my weakened will as I recall that scene.
For just the thought of that short race, rejuvenates my being.

A children's race, young boys, young men, how I remember well,
Excitement, sure, but also fear. It wasn't hard to tell.

They all lined up, so full of hope, each thought to win the race;
or tie for first, or if not that, at least take second place.

And rathers watced from off the side, each cheering for his son.
And each boy hoped to show his dad that he would be the one.

The whistle blew and off they went, young hearts and hopes afire.
To win and be the hero there was each young boy's desire.

And one boy in particular whose dad was in the crowd,
Was running near the lead, though, my dad will be so proud.

But as they speeded down the hill across a shallow dip,
the little boy who thought to win lost his step and slipped.

Trying hard to catch himself, his hands flew out of brace.
And mid the laughter of the crowd, he fell flat on his face.

So, down he fell and with him hope. He couldn't win it now.
Embarrassed, sad, he only wished to disappear, somehow.

But as he fell his dad stood up and showed his anxious face,
Which to the boy so clearly said, "get up, and win the race. "

He quickly rose, no damage done. Behind a bit, that's all.
And ran with all his might and mind to make up for the fall.

So anxious to restore himself, to catch up and to win,
His mind went faster than his legs, He slipped and fell, again!

He wished then he had quit before, with only one disgrace.
"I'm hopeless as a runner now, I shouldn't try to race."

But on the laughing crowd he searches and found his father's face;
That steady look which said, again,  "get up and win the race! "
So, up he jumped to try again, ten yards behind the last.
If I'm to gain those yards, he thought, I've got to move real fast.
Exerting everything he had, he regained eight to ten.
But trying hard to catch the lead, he slipped and fell, again.
Defeated, he lay there silently, a tear dropped from his eye.
There's no sense running anymore, no need to even try.
The will to rise had disappeared, and hope had fled away;
So far behind, so error prone, a loser all the way.
I've lost, so whats the use, he thought, I'll live with my disgrace.
But then he thought about his dad, whom soon he'd have to face.
Ge up, an echo sounded low, Get up and take your place!
You were not meant for failure here. Get up and win the race!
With borrowed will, get up, it said, you haven't lost it all.
For winning is no more than this; to rise each time you fall.

So, up he rose once more, and with a new commit,
He resolved that win or lose, at least he wouldn't quit.

So far behind the others now, the most he'd ever been.
Still he gave it all he had and ran as though to win.

Three times he'd fallen, stumbling, three times he rose again.
Too far behind to hope to win, he still ran to the end.

They cheered the winning runner as he crossed the line, first place;
Head high and proud and happy, no falling, no disgrace.

But when the fallen youngster crossed the line last place
The crowd gave him the greater cheer for finishing the race.

And even though he came in last with head bowed low, unproud,
You would have thought he'd won the race, to listen to the crowd.

And to his dad, he silently said, "I didn't do so well. "
"To me, you won " his father said, "you rose each time you fell. "

And now, when things seem dark and hard and difficult to face,
The memory of that little boy helps me in my race.

For all of my life is like that race with ups and downs and all
And all we have to do to win is rise each time we fall.

Quit! Give up, you're beaten, they still shout in my face;
But another voice within me says, " GET UP AND WIN THE RACE! "

This is one of my favorite poems. I'm not sure who it is by.
In life we are always going to have our ups and downs.
Every time we fall down we need to get back up.
There are so many people rooting for us and we don't want to let them down.
I know that by getting back up every time we go through tough/crappy situations, we become that much stronger!

Favorite quote (I think this quote goes hand in hand with this poem):

" How you think about a problem is more important than the problem itself. So always think positively."

You Know Their a Creeper When...

Creepers? WHY?!?
I have been living my  life day by day avoid creepers...
Well I should say "trying to avoid creepers", for some reason I feel like I attract them.
No matter where I go I am bound to find at least one!:S

I thought I would give you a few hints/clues on how to know if someones a creeper...
Maybe you'll have better luck than me.
You know someone's a creeper when they constantly stare at you...
You know their a creeper when they post pictures like this on facebook of you:
(I had no idea this picture was being taken... and I had to find it posted on facebook at 5:30 a.m.! CREEPY!)

You know someone is a creeper when they know your schedule better than you do... (Where they tell you what time your game is when you don't know... hmm... shouldn't I be the one telling you?)

You know someone is a creeper when "conveniently" they appear to be places you are!

You know someone is a creeper when they haven't been enrolled in class but continue to attend every day...(yeah, messed up!)

You know someone is a creeper when they are touchy and are always trying to get closer to you...

You know someone is a creeper when they purposefully change their interests to be the same as yours...
You know someone is creepin' when they constantly lie in order to try to impress you.

You can tell someone is a creeper generally by just looking at them...
Examples:
 Definitely a creep...

I would say a bit creepy, wouldn't you?

I don't know how creepier it can get... This is just messed up!

Man why do people have to be so creepy!!

Note: If you happen to come across a creeper, or even have a slight feeling they are a creeper...
RUN THE OTHER WAY!!

Sometimes if that doesn't work you have to break it to them...
For instance: I had to tell one that I was not attracted to them (which was the truth). Well he got all upset and couldn't believe that I wasn't attracted to him... He thought he was a good lookin' guy and that I should be.. My BAD, maybe if you weren't so freaking creepy... (but even then I wouldn't be attracted to him).

Personal Space... Maybe?

Today was a FABULOUS day...
Surrounded by Amazing friends.
Catching up with old friends.
and Laughing of course!

I decided to attend institute with my ward.
I had gone before and it wasn't so bad... except...
for today.

I go see a few people I know.
I get there early enough that I could kick it in the front seats,
or sit in the back seats.
Gotta make my mind up,
which seat can I take? (Get it?)

I decide I was going to sit in my usual spot... the back!
There was one seat in between me and another girl,
and about half way through some guy comes in and decides to sit in between us.
This guy looks older... I've never seen him before.

When he sits down... he pretty much sits on me!!
Freak!
He sat at on at least a quarter of my chair...
He sat close enough that when he moved his arm, his elbow hit by side.

Kind of like this... but worse! These two are just plain awkward.

To make matter worse he kept looking at my sister and I.
Well I'm hoping he doesn't try to talk to me or try to get my number.
Then I thought well I'll just give him my sisters number! (Great Idea!)

This triggered a memory from a long time ago..
There was this man who was a painter. My family hired him to paint our garage.
He decided to bring his son along with him.

While they were painting my mom wanted to introduce him to us.
We made small talk and then he asked for my number.

I wasn't attracted to him in the least! So I decided to give him my sisters number:]]
ooo... was she mad! hahaha it was pretty hilarious I must say.

I just think that some people need to learn person space.
I thought that it was common sense to know that each person gets their own chair...

Tips: If you don't know someone... don't try to share chairs.
If you don't know someone and decide to sit by them... don't stare at them...
I advise not to do anything that is going to give off that creeper vibe.

Here is a video that makes me laugh, I hope it does the same for you:

Here is the song to it as well... Its called the Backing up song :]]
Its very catchy:]]
ENJOY!
